As General Manager, Steven is responsible for all the non-legal operations of Corcoran French. He's not a lawyer, so you won't find him giving you legal advice. Most of his work is behind the scenes. Steven's involvement, and that of our Office Manager, Karen, means our partners are free to focus on meeting the needs of our clients, rather than spending time managing the firm.
Steven joined Corcoran French in 2014. Prior to that, Steven was Practice Manager for another mid sized law firm for 19 years and has experience as a Chartered Accountant.
Qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Chartered Secretary (ACIS, Associate member of Corporate Governance New Zealand, an international qualification recognised in over 70 countries), Steven is also a member of ALPMA, the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association. Steven's experience outside of the legal environment includes seven years with Chartered Accountancy firms, nine years volunteering on state sector school boards at all levels, including several years as Board Chair, as well as involvement in other charitable organisations. For 14 years to the end of 2016, Steven was voluntary treasurer of two such organisations, managing funds of more than $10M.
Steven is based in our Christchurch office but aims to spend some time at our Kaiapoi office most weeks.
